The representations of Rome in arms.

Other sculptures will represent Rome in arms. For example, one of the reliefs found under the Palace of the Chancellery, in Rome, represents the emperor Domitian leaving to start military operations in Germania, at the end of the first century AD.

Look for similarities and differences in order to find the meaning of this other bas-relief; only examine the female figure situated in the centre of the photo. This is Rome, holding the emperor by his elbow.

A photo (which will open in a new window) is visible on the site of Harpies.
