In 1640, in Paris he rejoins his three brothers, all involved in the profession of arms as many other Gascons sought after for their military abilities.

Cadet in the King’s Household Guards, in the company of the Captain of ESSARTS, brother-in-law of TREVILLE from the Béarn who commanded the company of the King’s Musketeers.

From 1640 to 1642 d’ARTAGNAN took part in the military operations of Arras, Aire, Bapaume, Collioure and Perpignan.
